MOS Detection Mechanism

• Sensing element:
  • Tin dioxide (SnO2) on sintered alumina ceramic
  • In clean air electrical conductivity low
  • Contact with reducing gases (such as CO or combustibles) increases conductivity
  • Sensitivity to specific gases depends on temperature of sensing element
